| Silvio Oscar Alberto is a winemaker with unparalleled
experience and style. It is his responsibility to define the quality,
style, and character of Andeluna Wines. His approach combines a
deep appreciation of the kind of fruit that only Argentina can produce,
with a complete mastery of modern winemaking techniques and philosophy.
His wines are at once both deeply Argentine and absolutely international
in style.
Silvio brings a passion for winemaking and a strong personal dedication to quality which have been reinforced during years of work with a remarkable collection of international winemakers. After a stellar academic career, Alberto spent the next few years as an enologist at Bodega La Rural - one of Argentina’s oldest wineries, in addition to serving a number of years as winemaker for Navarro Correas before joining Andeluna. Silvio has also spent time in both California and France visiting top producers in those areas.
With a Master’s degree in Enology from the Universidad
Juan Agustin Maza in Mendoza, Silvio is also responsible for training
the next group of young winemakers in that region. He continues
to play a role as a highly visible professor at the University,
and is well known for his lectures, technical articles, and global
outlook on winemaking.
Named “Outstanding Young Winemaker of the Year”,
Silvio Alberto’s unique vision helps to shape the wines of
Andeluna Cellars. He communicates his passion to Andeluna's customers
with a personal message that appears on every bottle:
Andeluna Cellars’ wines
express the heritage and romance of Argentina. I share this passion,
and believe our commitment to excellence results in an exceptional
wine drinking experience that can be tasted in every glass of Andeluna
wine. Please enjoy with our best wishes.

Consulting Enologist: Michel Rolland
A
graduate of the venerable Bordeaux Faculty of Oenology, Michel Rolland
continues to build upon this practical knowledge through observations
in his own laboratory in Pomerol, France. He consults for vintners
and vineyards on every continent, and was recently named by Robert Parker, Jr. as the world's most gifted wine advisor and consultant. Stellar wines aging in the cellars
of many world-class estates are styled in what is now called the
“Rolland Method.”
Vineyard management techniques championed by Rolland
include effeuillage (thinning of leaves), and éclaircissage
(pruning of clusters), both used to encourage the advent of perfectly
ripened grapes. Aging on the lees in new oak barrels and in-barrel
malolactic fermentation are also Rolland’s trademarks.
However, those who view the “Rolland Method”
as a craftsman’s book of recipes have missed the mark. Rolland
is not a technician – he is, first and foremost, an observer.
He studies the surround, that is, the blend of personality traits
that distinguishes the vintner, the vineyard, and the grower. In
uncanny fashion, Rolland understands the unique culture of the wine
– and therefore the nuances that separate an uneventful wine
from something quite exciting. It is this ability to understand
the wine that makes him the enologist extraordinaire that he is,
and a legend in his time.
