Andeluna’s Winemaker’s Selection Malbec 2004 is super flavorful in the range of maximally ripe black currant, blueberry and plum fruit, but yikes it offers a snootful and palate-cleansing amalgam of briars and brambles, roots and moss, earth and minerals, oak and tannin and a spire of bitter chocolate and dried spice that could sustain mountains.

Malbec from Argentina often represents a good value; the 2004 Andeluna Winemaker's Selection ($13) is one example with robust berry flavors.

The complex 2004 Andeluna Winemaker's Selection Mendoza Malbec ($13) from Argentina is well worth the price. Almost black in color with intense, concentrated dark fruit character, it doesn't sacrifice fleshiness for flabbiness. The lush texture is supported by vibrant acidity, making it an ideal match for meats and rich dishes.
