Issue 111
Impressive wine at the price. "...fleshy, full bodied, and quite complex in flavor, with rich fruitiness, modest tannin, and quite complex in flavor, and evident oak. It tastes of black currant, cherry, toast, tobacco and oak."

2006 Critics Challenge Wine Competition

Gold Award
Rich in berry and spice. -- Jamal Rayyis

88 Points - June 2006
"Big and ripe, with chewy fruit and a lot of plum and blackberry character. At 15.3% it hides its alcohol amid berry, cassis and black pepper flavors. Modern in style, with tannin and texture. Very nice and fairly natural despite its heft."

86 Points - May 15, 2006
"Medium-weight plum and red currant fruit with a coating of vanilla toast. Nice flesh on the finish."

2006 Edition
An Excellent Wine
Purple-red with violet highlights. The nose is fresh, good quality with medium intensity. Aromas are based on ripe fruit and good oak for aging. Its expressive mouth insists on its aromatic profile, supported by good tannic and acidic structure. "Very elegant and harmonic"(AV); "silky, pleasant to drink"(RF).(MA).

A giant-killer at this price, as it tastes better than most $40 merlots from California. Deep, dark, rich and expressive, it features dark berry fruit with nuances of cocoa, herbs, toast and spices.
